Local knowledge is key in surfing. No matter whether you are a beginner trying to stand up for the first time or a more advanced surfer. To know where to go and when on any given surf day is crucial to score some rides. Checking out the local surf spots can be fun for the travelling surfer, but it also takes up a lot of time that could be spent in the water, actually surfing.
We have teamed up with Nic of Sintra Surf. He grew up a few kilometers from OUTPOST - Casa das Arribas boogie boarding and surfing the breaks along the Sintra coast. He and his colleagues offer lessons in small groups for surf beginners as well as guided excursions and private surf lessons for more advanced surfers, including the option of professional video analysis.
On our coastline in the national park we surf mostly uncrowded beaches. Within 20 to 40 minutes driving of OUTPOST are many beautiful surf spots from Praia da Adraga to Azenhas do Mar and all the way to Europe’s secret surf capital Ericeira. We are blessed with many little hidden beaches to escape from the crowds. Nic and his team will know what break is ‘on’ and where not to go… BTW one of our favorite surfable spots is just a 5-minute walk from us.
Nic and the other instructors speak English, Portuguese and German. Equipment for all skill levels and conditions is available, from soft boards and mini-mals for beginners, to long-boards and any shape of short board you may want to try out.
